Invoicing questions, answered
Everything people ask before they send their first invoice. If yours is not here, write to us.
Do I need to know accounting or design?
No. Say what you want on the invoice in one sentence and it writes, calculates and lays itself out. If you can send a text message, you can send an invoice.
Will the numbers actually be right?
Yes. Every total — VAT, discounts, staged payments — is worked out on our server, never guessed by the AI, so a wrong figure can't reach your client.
Is it really free to start?
Yes — no card, no trial countdown on the free tier. Paid plans start at $9/mo ($6/mo billed yearly), and you only pay once you pass the free limits. The assistant tells you when.
Can my whole team use it?
Yes, and cheaply: add people per seat instead of buying everyone a full plan. One shared account, clean separation, and you choose what each person can touch.
Can I make it match my brand?
Ask for any look and it becomes a saved template with your logo and colours — reused on every future invoice, no design work.
What languages does it work in?
English and Georgian today, with more being added. The interface, the conversation and the invoice itself are three separate settings — so you can chat in one language and send an invoice in another.
Can I email the invoice from here?
Yes. Send it straight to your client and the invoice tells you when it was delivered and when it was opened. You can also download a PDF or share a link.
Does my client need an account?
No. They get a private link to their own copy of the invoice, or a PDF. They never sign up for anything, and they never see the rest of your account.
Where does my data live, and who can see it?
On our own servers in Europe, and only you and the people you invite. An invoice link is guess-proof and specific to one client. We never publish your bank details.
Can I invoice in another currency?
Yes. Say the currency in the same sentence as the amount and the invoice is issued in it, formatted the way that currency is normally written.
Do I need to install anything, or can I use it on my phone?
Neither. It runs in a browser, and on a phone you can add it to the home screen from the browser menu — it then opens like an app, without an app store or an update to install. The same account, the same invoices, whichever you open.
Can I send the same invoice to the same client every month?
You can duplicate an invoice and change what needs changing — ask the assistant to copy last month's and it comes back with a fresh number and today's dates. What does not exist yet is a true recurring invoice that sends itself on a schedule. If that is the shape of your billing, it is worth telling us.
Can my client pay through the invoice itself?
Not yet. The invoice carries your bank details and your payment terms, and the client pays you the way they already pay you. Nothing sits between you and the money, which also means nothing takes a percentage of it.
What if I need to correct an invoice I have already sent?
Void it and issue a new one. A void is an annotation rather than a deletion — the original stays in your ledger with its number and a note saying it was voided, because a client may already have filed it and a number that gets reused means two different documents share one reference.
Who decides the invoice numbers?
We do, and they run in sequence with no gaps, which is a legal requirement in most countries rather than a convention. A gap looks to an auditor exactly like a deleted invoice, so voided invoices keep their number instead of releasing it.
What does it cost, and what happens when I outgrow the free plan?
Free covers three invoices a month with no card. Paid plans start at 9 a month in your currency, and the assistant tells you as you approach a limit rather than stopping you at one. Nothing you have already made is ever locked behind the paywall.
Can I invoice a person rather than a company?
Yes. Say the name and address and it goes on the invoice the same way. The only difference is that a private individual has no company number or tax number to carry, so those lines simply do not appear rather than sitting there empty.
Does it know my country's tax rules?
It applies the rate you tell it and shows the tax as its own line, which is what almost every tax authority requires. It is not a tax adviser and does not decide whether you should be charging VAT, at what rate, or whether a cross-border sale is zero-rated — those depend on your registration and your client's, and getting them wrong is expensive enough to be worth asking an accountant once.
How long do you keep my invoices?
For as long as the account is open. Nothing is deleted to make room and there is no expiry on old invoices, because the reason to keep them is usually a tax authority asking about a year you had almost forgotten. If you close the account, they go with it.
What if something goes wrong, or I need help?
Write to 1001@1001invoice.com and a person reads it. There is no ticket queue and no chatbot in front of it, which is possible because the product is small — and when it stops being possible we will say so rather than quietly install one.
